Best Buy, Distribution Hub, Missouri City, TX

New Construction - Wireless

The Best Buy Missouri City Distribution Center is a 550,000 square foot warehouse that supplies more than 70 Best Buy stores in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The distribution center is a round the clock operation, with over 100 employees on 3 shifts. This location splits the load on the retail giant’s existing Dallas hub, and is specialized for storage and distribution of large or high dollar retail items, such as TVs and home appliances. This makes precise, reliable control of the space critical.

This project was executed under contract with GH Mechanical Services with EE Reed Construction as general contractor.  For this building, a full Trane AirFi wireless control system was installed, with a Tracer Concierge touch screen operator interface. Due to the large, open floorplan of the warehouse, a wireless approach made for smooth system implementation. Since all 7 of the packaged rooftop units were able to talk through a single wireless communication interface, significant time was saved during install. Where we would normally be slowed by working on lifts high in the ceiling of the warehouse bay, on this project, Convergentz was able to have a programmer perform most basic system checkout of devices on the roof from a single location on the first floor.
